SIXT is one of the first and most influential international car rental companies in the world.
THE BRIEF
SIXT car rental is easy to find internationally in almost every major city and tourist destination worldwide.
Because of this, they want to enable the website to promote car rentals in and out of China, and focusing in china community.
UNDERSTANDING & FINDINGS
During the research phase, I found out that the Chinese community is used to asking or complaining about car renting cause they spect to pay only for the hours of use instead for the whole renting day.
It was my first time designing for china community and looking at other Chinese websites, it was very interesting to see how they are used to navigate through multiple drop-downs to find the right word they are typing, cause each letter means a syllable. _ Usability challenge.
A design challenge was to find the balance between the minimalism of a german brand compares to a china community, which use to find a lot of information on the same page_Design challenge.
RESULT
Chinese culture is not used to traveling abroad on their own, only in tour groups, and we wanted to encourage them to know what kind of car to use for the type of trip, country, and season.
As result, I included a blog feed on the homepage of useful tooltips for planning a trip and renting a car.
After the user testing phase was very successful to add an animated carousel where the user can select the category of a car, based on the purpose of the trip: business - family trip - adventure _see the video.
For the booking process, I added a suggestion for add-ons, based on the country and the season the user had selected. For example: if the user is traveling to Germany in December the site will recommend adding winter wheels.
